Christian Preaching: How Can We Be Free From the Bondage of Sin?

The Lord Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the son stays ever” (John 8: 34–35). The Lord’s words tell us that if people cannot rid themselves of the bondage and shackles of sin, and they continue to commit sins, then they are the servants of sin and shall never enter the kingdom of God. Reading this passage of Scripture, many faithful brothers and sisters will think of how they sin in the day only to confess at night, and so they will worry that they live in sin and cannot enter the kingdom of God, and they will be anguished in their hearts. They believe in the Lord, so why can’t they rid of themselves of sin? Just how can we rid ourselves of the shackles of sin? We will now fellowship on this aspect of the truth.

Christian Movie Extract 1 From “The Price We Must Pay”: Is Hard Work, Giving Things Up, and Expending Yourself for the Lord Really Obeying God?

Many people think that as long as we abandon things and expend ourselves are the people who are obedient to God, the people who do the will of God, also the people God blesses. When the Lord comes, such a kind of person will surely enter the kingdom of heaven. Does such understanding accord with the will of the Lord? We all know those Pharisee of two thousand years ago, they also paid a great price. They were the people serving Jehovah God in the temple. Though they abandoned many things, they didn’t know God so that they nailed the Lord Jesus on the cross. The Lord Jesus said, “… I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity”(Matthew 7:22-23). To those people who preach and work in the name of the Lord Jesus, why did the Lord Jesus condemn them, saying, “you that work iniquity”? Then what kind of person is the one who truly obeys God? Knowing this aspect of the truth is very important, for it is related to whether we can enter the kingdom of heaven. Can People Pleasers Gain God’s Salvation?

By Hao Zheng, China

I’m from a poor, backward mountain village with feudalistic customs and complicated interpersonal relationships. I was really influenced by that environment and things my parents would say, like “Think before you speak and then talk with reservation,” “Silence is gold, speech is silver, and he who talks a lot errs a lot,” “Keeping silent on the faults of good friends makes for a long and good friendship,” “Speak good words in harmony with others’ feelings and reason, as being frank annoys others.” Read More »
